Welcome to EDUCATE!

EDUCATE stands for 'Early Dementia Users Co-Operative Aiming To Educate'

We are a group of people in Stockport living with dementia. We believe that it is possible to overcome the isolation and stigma many people with dementia still face. We use our experiences to inspire others to live well and to involve people with dementia in the life of their communities.

EDUCATE have been sharing their experience and knowledge for over 10 years now. We have spoken to audiences as far afield as Cardiff, Brussels, London, Liverpool, Turin, Telford, Dublin, Rennes, Brighton, Bruges, Nottingham, Oxford and Sofia! We have visited churches, mosques and synagogues, we have been translated into French, Hungarian & Italian. During the 2017 summer term alone we spoke to over 3000 school students. We have helped deliver dementia training to thousands of staff and have received local, national and international awards. We have helped to sustain an allotment and Intergenerational choir with Stockport school.

We are part the Dementia Engagement and Empowerment Project (DEEP), a  network of Involvement groups for people with dementia. EDUCATE receives support from Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust and Stockport Council.
